On your marks
*Start to pack – begin with the ornaments and other
items that are not in daily use.
* Don’t forget to label boxes.
* Pack out of season clothes.
*Research removal companies – check costs and
*availability against service provided
Get set
*Ensure that your newspapers and milk have been cancelled
*Now you have a moving date pack everything that is not needed on a daily basis
*Check with the estate agent where the keys can be collected from (their office or the seller direct)
* Arrange transfer of your telephone numbers
*Label all boxes clearly with the room they need to go in
* Arrange re-direction of mail
*Notify all banks or building societies etc of removal date
Go!!
*Pack a box with all necessary supplies and clearly label it.
*Keep a box with all important documents (e.g. passports) and phone numbers (e.g. doctors, solicitors) with you.
* Check all cupboards and drawers are empty
* Don’t forget the attic and garden shed!
* If selling deliver keys to estate agent or hand them to new buyer (check with solicitor first!!)
*kettle, tea bags, milk, sugar, teaspoons, cups, biscuits, sandwiches
* Read the meters
Don’t expect to unpack everything on your first day. Getting everything in the house and closing the door is a major achievement!
